Frequently Asked Questions

TieUp is an online directory that connects boaters with unused private docks. Dock owners can list their available space, and boaters can browse the map to find a place to tie up. TieUp itself does not own, rent, or manage any docks — it simply helps people find and contact one another.
Browsing, listing, and dock verification are free. When a boater books a dock through TieUp's in-app booking, payment is processed securely by Stripe and TieUp deducts a 2.5% platform fee from the dock owner's payout — boaters pay no added fee. Docks without in-app booking remain completely free to list and arrange directly.
Switch to the How to List tab above for the full step-by-step. In short: request editing access, complete the quick automated verification, create a free account and link your 10-digit code to it (a one-time step), then open the map fullscreen, click "+ List a Dock," add your details, and publish. Your pin goes live on the map instantly.
Verification keeps out unwanted edits and makes sure only real docks get listed — that's what keeps the map accurate and trustworthy for everyone. It's quick and automated, with no waiting on a manual review: you request editing access, a few automatic checks confirm your listing is legitimate, and once you're cleared you'll receive your 10-digit code. You link that code to your TieUp account once, and from then on the map automatically recognizes you as the owner of your dock — no need to enter the code again.
No. The dock-verification information you submit — including the photo, the address, and your device location — is collected only temporarily and is deleted once verification is complete. Information you choose to include in a published listing (such as contact details, address, price, and description) is stored until you or TieUp removes the listing.
Once you save your pin, your listing is visible to everyone browsing the map — that's how boaters find you. You choose what details to include, so add whatever helps people get in touch and leave out anything you'd rather keep private.
For docks with in-app booking enabled, yes: payment is handled securely through Stripe — your card details go directly to Stripe and are never seen or stored by TieUp, and owners are paid out after check-in. For other docks, you arrange payment directly with the other party. TieUp also offers optional in-app messaging: logged-in boaters can message a dock owner from their listing, and conversations are private between the two of you.
Try our pricing calculator for an estimate based on your dock's size and features. Keep in mind the figures are estimates only, not guarantees — actual earnings vary with location, demand, dock condition, and season. You set your own prices.
Just keep your listing up to date. If your dock becomes unavailable, return to the map and update or remove your pin so boaters always see accurate availability.
Yes — every dock goes through an automated verification step before it can be listed, which helps keep the map accurate and keeps out fake or vandalized listings. As with any directory, we'd still recommend using good judgment when arranging a tie-up.
You can report inappropriate or illegal content, or request removal of a listing, by emailing help.tieup@gmail.com. Reports are typically reviewed within 24–48 hours. You can also remove your own listing from the map at any time.
